A quick note on this photo: I worked hard to convey a sense of creepiness here, through my framing and the depth of field. The fallen branch that seems to be reaching for the viewer was what first drew my eye, and it took me shooting from the height of my calf to get the angle just right.
There’s something about this that reminds me of Lewis Carroll’s poem, “Jabberwocky.”
