This photo happened to be one of those that creates itself–right place, right time. I had been intrigued by the look of an abandoned sofa sitting in an alley, one I had passed by for several days. On this day, I had a camera with me and decided to stop, compose, snap. As I considered the lighting and composition, I heard this gentleman whirring up the alley toward me, and I knew if I could catch the right instant, this would be a keeper…

The simpler shot of the sofa in the alley is one I still like, but a bonus, really.
